Managing Absence

Managing absence is one of the most difficult issues facing business. We provide practical advice and strategies for managing both short term intermittent absences and longer term absence including:

  • conducting Return to Work interviews
  • drafting requests for business-focused medical reports
  • understanding medical advice and conducting impact assessments to consider adjustments to roles
  • the concept of “disability” and the duty to make reasonable adjustments
  • considering alternatives to dismissal
  • ensuring compliance with the Statutory Dismissal and Disciplinary Procedures

Managing Absence

Poor attendance can have a detrimental impact on an organisation’s performance and competitiveness if not managed properly.

This one-day course considers both legal and practical issues involved in dealing with absence in the workplace. The course objective is to give those responsible for managing absence the skills and confidence to effectively manage both short and long term absence.
